Mrs. Michelle Figueredo – Teacher Spotlight

Tell us a little about yourself:

I was born and raised in Miami, FL. I love to travel, try new restaurants, and spend time with family and friends. I attended Catholic

school from Kindergarten to 12th grade and knew that my calling was to continue my journey in Catholic education. I taught 6th–

8th English at a Catholic school in Miami for 5 years.

Why did you become a teacher?

I knew I wanted to become a teacher since I was a little girl, but it was my music theory teacher in college who truly inspired me to teach. She was extremely passionate and engaging, and I knew I wanted to convey those same emotions, qualities, and messages to my future students.

What do you love most about teaching?

I always sat the “everyday is an adventure” in teaching because it is! No two days are the same and I love that. Each day starts

fresh! I also love giving my students the opportunity to express themselves creatively. I love to assign projects where students not only achieve academically, but also learn something about themselves

along the way. There is no greater feeling than seeing a student have the “A-HA moment” when something just clicks.
